Driver License Fees

The vast majority of driver’s licenses and identity cards issued in 2018 and after are valid for eight years in most cases. If the bearer is under the age of 65 and holds a 4-year license or ID issued between 2014 and 2017, the license or ID will be changed to an 8-year card at the next renewal.

Licenses issued to persons over the age of 65, as well as Driver Authorization Cards, are valid for four years after they are issued. Those who have a license or identification card with a duration of fewer than four years are charged the four-year price.

This applies to those who are 25 years of age or older and who identify themselves to be homeless or a recently released prisoner. This is a one-timeexemption that is only applicable to duplicates. As long as you remain employed at the time of your next normal renewal, you may be compelled to refund the Department of Transportation for the $3.25 photofee that was charged to you.

Under the age of 25 A one-time exemption for all expenses associated with obtaining an original, renewal, or duplicate Nevada driver’s license, ID card, or Driver Authorization Card is available to anyone under the age of 25 who have declared themselves homeless and who qualify.

All applicants who desire to take advantage of these fee exemptions must submit an application in person at a DMV location and complete the homeless declaration form.
