It is recommended that you update your existing documentation to reflect your new address if you do not obtain a fresh driver’s license, identification card, or vehicle registration.

  • The duplication of your driver’s license, identification card or registration is available if you require replacement documentation that reflects your new residence address (see below). Duplicates may be obtained quickly and easily over the internet (see below). The cost of each duplicate document is listed on the RMV’sSchedule of Fees page. When changing your residence, you should update your current documentation, even if you do not obtain a new driver’s license, identification card, or vehicle registration.

If you have automobiles on the road, you should do the following:

  • Provide notice to your insurance agent or firm of your change of residence
  • Inquire with your prior town assessor to determine whether you are entitled for a reduction in your excise tax bill.
