It is mandatory to renew your license and pay the renewal cost if your license expires in fewer than 150 days from the day it was issued. To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must only possess an ordinary, non-commercial driver’s license, identification card, or permit. If your license has been suspended, cancelled, or revoked, the only thing you can do is change your ID card or Limited Permit
  • Otherwise, you have no options. You must be a legal resident of Georgia
  • You must be a citizen of the United States
  • You must have a Real ID document like your current license, identification card, or permit. (A gold or black star should be printed in the upper right-hand corner of the page.)

Want to Change your License Number?

The Department of Driver Services (DDS) can only update a driver’s license or identification number in the following circumstances:

  • Your Social Security Number is the same as your present driver’s license number. Theft of your present Driver’s License, Permit, or Identification Card, or you are a victim of identity theft

Replacing Lost Licenses

For those who have lost, stolen, or damaged their driver’s license, you may be eligible for a replacement on the internet. The expiration date of the original issued license does not alter as a result of obtaining a replacement license. Please see our Online Services menu for information on obtaining a replacement license through the Internet. A replacement may also be obtained by submitting an application in person at any driver service facility. It is only in person at a driver service center that you may apply for a duplicate temporary license or certificate for driving if your temporary license or certificate for driving has been lost, stolen, or otherwise damaged.

Holders of a temporary driving license or temporary identification card must present the relevant documentation demonstrating a prolonged allowed stay in the United States in order to renew their license or identification card. You must give the following information:

  • Confirmation of evidence of identification is required. and
  • Documentation of changes (except than those necessary to repair clerical errors) in the name, date of birth, or gender of a driver’s license, temporary license, or certificate for driving holder

If Your Commercial Driver License is Lost or Stolen

You must give the following information:

  • Two proofs of residence in Tennessee
  • Confirmation of evidence of identification
  • And Documentation of changes (other than those necessary to repair clerical errors) in a driver’s license, temporary license, or certificate for the driving holder’s name, date of birth, or gender are required.

Fees

  • A commercial driver’s license (CDL) duplicate costs $12 dollars, and subsequent CDL duplicates cost $16 dollars. The first duplicate costs $8 dollars, and subsequent duplicates cost $12 dollars.

With the exception of temporary licenses, if your lost license will expire within the next 12 months, you may opt to renew it rather than just obtain a duplicate, if the license will expire within the next 12 months. It is necessary to renew your license if your current license is slated to expire in less than six (6) months. Wisconsin DMV Official Government Site

  • If you are a citizen of the United States and have a valid driver’s license or identification card, you can apply for a duplicate driver’s license or identification card online. Visitors who are not citizens of the United States must visit a DMV service facility and show documentation of their legal status. The online application will prompt you to verify or alter your residence and/or postal address
  • A duplicate license or ID card will be delivered to you after you have completed the process.

At a DMV customer care facility, you may expect to find the following:

  1. Complete the application online, print it, and bring it with you, or fill it out in person at the DMV office.
  • The Wisconsin Driver License Application formMV3001 or the Wisconsin Identification Card (ID) Application formMV3004 are the forms to fill out in Wisconsin.

Please provide identification verification. Identify yourself by presenting your Social Security number. It is highly advised that you bring your Social Security card with you to the interview. If you are not a citizen of the United States, you must produce an appropriate paperwork demonstrating your legal presence in the country. Paid the money to have a duplicate driver’s license, instruction permit, or identification card issued. Applicants under the age of 18 who are seeking a duplicate driver’s license or instruction permit must additionally submit the following documentation:

  • Sponsorship by a parent or legal guardian is required. Documentation of successful completion of a Driving Education course (provided electronically by your school) or documentation of current participation in a driver education course that meets the requirements of the Department of Transportation

Please keep in mind that the identification cards required for voting are completely free. Fill out the application with the ID for FREE checkbox checked if you are a citizen of the United States of America, will be at least 18 years old before the next election, and will need a Wisconsin ID card for voting reasons. By mail (available only for those who have a duplicate ID): ​

  1. Obtain a copy of the Wisconsin identity card application (form MV3004)

  • Citizens of the United States may apply for a duplicate ID card just once, through the mail. In order to submit future applications, you will need to visit a DMV Customer Service Center to have your photo taken again. Sending your application materials to the DMV through overnight or priority delivery will expedite the processing time. Once your application has been approved, your duplicate driver’s license or identification card will be mailed to you through first class mail to the address you provided in your application. REAL ID and duplicate identification cards The DMV will accept an application for a REAL ID-compliant driver license or identity card if you do not presently have one; however, you must visit a DMV customer service location to submit your application.
