Colorado’s New Design For Driver License and ID Cards

  1. Getting Started
  2. Colorado’s New Design for Driver’s Licenses and Identification Cards

Home; Colorado’s New Driver’s License and Identification Card Design;

General Information

  • READ MORE about Colorado’s REAL ID program: Poster, Fact Sheet, News Release – Pilot Offices (February 29, 2016), News Release – Full Implementation (March 28, 2016).

What You Need To Know

  • Mount Sneffels is depicted on the face of the card in the form of a mountain picture. This mountain, which is located in the San Juan Mountain Range west of Ouray and north of Telluride, rises to 14,158 feet in elevation, making it the 27th highest mountain in Colorado. Current cards will be valid until they reach the end of their expiration period. There will be no change in the charge for a document as a result of this new design. All of the information on the card will be laser-engraved, and the primary photo will be grayscaled
  • However, the secondary photo will be color. Individuals will receive a foldable temporary card instead of the traditional temporary card when they obtain temporary papers in the office. The star at the upper right of the card signifies that your document is a legitimate government-issued identification card. The ability to utilize it to enter government facilities as well as for air travel is provided. More information about the REAL ID Act may be found here. The new cards will continue to facilitate organ and tissue donation while also including military or veteran identification information. When a document is issued pursuant to the Colorado Road and Community Safety Act (CO-RCSA), a black box will be included that indicates, “This document is not valid for federal identification, voting, or public benefit purposes.”
