Requesting a Subsidy Increase
I need to raise my subsidy payments for the following reasons:
- The health of my adoptive kid has deteriorated

Foster and adoption families that have been recognized as payable service providers in CHRIS are entitled to build a profile on the Foster and Adoption Family portal. You must ensure that all of the identifying information you give on the Foster and Adoption Family Portal corresponds to the information in your DCFS provider file. If you receive a notice saying that part or all of the identifying information does not match, you must contact your DCFS Resource Worker for more assistance. He or she can check the information you’ve submitted in your DCFS provider file and make any necessary modifications if necessary.
- What is the “Unique” ID of an AASIS member, and where can I access it?
- An email with your AASIS member Unique ID was sent to each head of household member who has an email address registered in the DCFS CHRIS computer system at the time the DCFS Foster and Adoption Family Portal became operational.
- Please contact your DCFS Resource Worker or utilize the Contact link on the DCFS Foster and Adoption Family Portal page if you require assistance in acquiring your AASIS member identification number (member ID).

- The following are the guidelines for passwords:
- Must be between 8 and 20 characters in length
- It is possible to include any alphabetic, numeric, or special character. The string must contain at least one (1) digit. There must be at least one (1) uppercase letter in the phrase. Every sixty (60) days, the license expires. It is important to note that the password is case sensitive.
What is the name of my user account? Your User Name is the email address that you submitted to your DCFS resource worker when you first contacted them. It is not possible to modify your User Name. It is necessary to advise your DCFS Resource Worker of any changes to your email address so that you may continue to receive notices from the Foster and Adoption Family Portal. If you change your email address, you must notify your DCFS Resource Worker of the change. If you have forgotten your user name, you may recover it by clicking on the ‘Forgot User Name?’ link on the Home (login) screen.
- Keep your User Name private and discreet so that no one else may use it to get access to your bank accounts and financial information.
- To log in, go to the home screen and type in your User Name and password.

What should I do if I want to make changes to my security questions and answers?
You have the option of selecting new questions or editing the answers to questions that you have already selected.

Current placements of children in your care are shown, but former placements are shown as closed or inactive placements of children in your care.
The service start date is the day on which the paid service for which you are signing up becomes active.

What factors go into determining the amount of the payment?
Depending on the service, the actual amount paid is calculated either by the whole month or by the number of days the kid is in a placed, paying service and pro-rated (for example, at a cost of $410/month, but for 10 days of a 31-day month would be $132.26).
If the foster kid is removed from the placement before midnight on the day in question, the provider will not be reimbursed for that day.

State of New Jersey
Foster, adoptive, and kinship families can receive their payments by direct deposit or debit card. In order to ensure that you get your subsidy and board payments in a safe and dependable manner, DCF will transition from handwritten paper checks to either a Direct Deposit or Debit Card payment mechanism beginning on July 1, 2014. It is all up to you. If you choose to enroll, you will get an enrollment packet that contains validation information that will allow you to have access to your payment information, a direct deposit enrollment form, and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
A debit card will be automatically mailed to you if you do not complete the direct deposit enrollment form by the due date.
You can gain access to your payment information by entering a resource identification number (Resource ID) and a password into a secure website.
- In the enrollment packet, you will find the Resource ID and temporary password, both of which are necessary in order to log on to the website. After logging into the website for the first time, you will be asked to update the temporary password you have been assigned. Please keep your Resource ID and password safe and secret

Signing onto the website or contacting customer support is simple, and you will be able to browse through your payment details after you have done so. A child’s “Special Needs” status is not automatically established just because one or more of these problems exists. The justification for this decision is based on the child’s particular and individual needs. The qualifying requirements take into account the difficulty of recruiting and placing children of a certain age and race. Children with special needs may be granted exclusions to the category of Special Needs Children on a case-by-case basis, according to the law.
Children adopted by private non-profit organizations are subject to different requirements than children adopted through public agencies. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE ADOPTIVE PARENTS

What is Adoption Assistance and how does it work? Adoption aid programs give financial assistance to families in order to help them fulfill the needs of their children who have been adopted from foster care (and in rare cases those adopted through private actions). When a child is adopted privately, they may be eligible for this reimbursement if they fit the agency’s criteria of special needs and have an adoption subsidy agreement executed prior to the completion of the adoption process.
