Individual Taxpayers

Any letter should be addressed to you by your full name and mailing address, as well as your phone number and the last four digits of your Social Security number. How to get a copy of your tax return

According to the Internal Revenue Service, you should maintain a copy of your tax return for at least three years. If you don’t have a copy, you can get one from the Internal Revenue Service. Lenders and other parties, on the other hand, require a tax transcript from the IRS, not a copy of your actual return.

Why you might need a copy of your tax return

Your old tax returns can be put to a variety of useful use. Among other things, they may assist you in preparing your taxes for the current tax year. When preparing your new tax return, you may reuse a lot of the information from the previous year’s return.
