If you are unable to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on the FAFSA, our office is required to collect a 2020 Tax Return Transcript, which must be received directly from the IRS in order to process your application.

After receiving your Tax Return Transcript or Verification of Non-filing letter, please clearly write the student’s complete name and MaineStreet ID number on each page of the transcript and mail it to the Office of Student Financial Aid in the appropriate envelope.

After a tax return has been filed electronically, it will take roughly 1-2 weeks for the IRS to review and process the return. Tax returns that are filed on paper will take roughly 6-8 weeks to be processed once they have been received.

Requesting a copy of your tax return transcript A transcript of the student’s IRS tax return is the most typical IRS document that students are required to present to the Financial Aid department (NOT the IRS Tax Account Transcript). We do, however, occasionally need further IRS documentation. They can be accessible using some of the same techniques as those listed below, but not all of them. In addition to the above IRS papers, the “Online Request-Get Transcript ONLINE” approach includes selections for all of the IRS documents listed above.
